Photographing everyday people is powerful. You have the power to lift them up or to capture a memory they will cherish for a lifetime.
If you’ve ever created an image of a person who was feeling low in their self-esteem, and then seen them glow when they see their photographs, you know this power. Or, if you’ve ever seen a mother cry after looking at an image of their family, you know exactly what I am talking about.
In this episode of Learn+ we will be creating images of a variety of ‘everyday people’. Some images will help an individual see themselves in a new light. Other images will celebrate a momentous moment in the subject’s life.
Some of our images will be quiet, and straight forward aimed at simply showing the subject’s beauty. Others will create more of a ‘fashion twist’ to a traditional portrait.
When working with models you have less to worry about when it comes to expression and pose. With everyday people every element falls on you; lighting, posing, expression, body language, and more. But just because you aren’t working with models doesn’t mean your images have to be stale or boring, in fact, they can have a lot more depth and impact!
